What you will do

• Build autonomous life science systems connecting AI reasoning, biological evidence, and automated execution.
• Translate the Autonomous Life Science AI vision into production-quality research systems and architectures.
• Develop methods for representing hypotheses and uncertainty using Bayesian reasoning and epistemology.
• Design agentic workflows to plan experiments and integrate computational predictions with lab feedback.
• Create evaluation frameworks and benchmarks for reasoning quality and hypothesis generation.
• Collaborate with ML, experimental, and automation teams to ensure biological grounding.

Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computational Biology, Statistics, or Biology.
• Strong research track record in AI for science, probabilistic modeling, or agentic systems.
• Deep understanding of scientific reasoning, experimental design, and evidence integration.
• Hands-on experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
• Ability to translate biological questions into computational ML problems.
• Must be based in San Francisco, CA USA

Nice to have

• Experience with Bayesian modeling, causal inference, or probabilistic programming.
