What you will do

• Investigate the spin dynamics of molecular and atomic spins on surfaces as part of the ERC-funded SPINOCCHIO project.
• Develop first-principles methods to quantify spin-phonon couplings of spins on surfaces.
• Model magnetic relaxation to determine spin relaxation (T1) and coherence (T2) times.
• Establish new design principles for extending the spin lifetimes of magnetic adsorbates.
• Supervise Master's and PhD students within the Department of Quantum Nanoscience.
• Collaborate on the writing and submission of research grants and applications.

Requirements

• PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline.
• Strong background in open quantum system dynamics, solid-state physics, and quantum many-body physics.
• Expertise in quantum information science.
• Proficiency in scientific programming.
• Ability to work independently within multidisciplinary research teams.
• Must be able to relocate to the Netherlands.
