TL;DR

Avionics Equipment Technical Owner (Aerospace): Designing, testing, and optimizing avionics equipment for the Nyx modular space vehicle with an accent on mission compliance and safety requirements. Focus on managing the full lifecycle of avionics units from concept to flight model, including coordination of multidisciplinary engineering teams and validation of environmental and functional test campaigns.

Location: On-site in Munich, Germany. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are provided for eligible candidates.

Compensation: €72,500 – €100,000

The Exploration Company is developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle designed for cargo transport and future human spaceflight.

What you will do

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and technical owner for specific avionics units throughout their lifecycle.
  • Coordinate internal design and development efforts across electronics, mechanical, thermal, and digital engineering disciplines.
  • Manage unit documentation, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and safety-critical requirements.
  • Oversee test campaigns including functional and environmental testing such as vibration, shock, TVAC, and EMC.
  • Perform FDIR and FMEA analysis to ensure system reliability and safety.
  • Define roadmaps for unit improvement between development models and flight iterations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience in avionics equipment design within aerospace or related industries.
  • Proficiency in avionics design tools and software.
  • Understanding of space-relevant standards such as ECSS, MIL-STD, or NASA-HBK.
  • Familiarity with RAMS aspects including FMECA and FDIR.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
