Crypto Operations Lead

Institute of Free Technology is a mission-driven tech startup studio that helps bring ideas to market with financial, technical, legal, people-ops and brand support. Their startups focus on building public goods to safeguard civil liberties in the digital age.

Responsibilities:

- Own day-to-day operation, integrity and security of the group's on-chain treasury across multiple legal entities, using a multi-Safe + Zodiac wallet architecture.
- Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, runbooks, drills, on-call escalation and post-mortems.
- Define and run incident response, escalation paths and be personally accountable for true incidents.
- Manage liquidity execution within a risk mandate, including on/off-ramping and counterparty engagement.
- Own crypto and fiat payment execution and auditable wallet signing workflows.
- Produce treasury reporting: position reconciliation, dashboards and on-chain transaction records for Finance and investors.
- Own cold-custody programme, key custody, fiduciary succession and periodic recovery drills.

Requirements:

- Crypto-native operator with deep, hands-on experience operating institutional-grade crypto treasuries under self-custody.
- Fluent with Gnosis Safe and Zodiac modules, permission scoping, allowlists and calldata verification.
- Strong self-custody bias and OpSec mindset; treats key compromise as catastrophic and drives mitigation.
- Comfortable operating across multi-entity, multi-jurisdiction constraints.
- Hands-on builder who writes runbooks, runs drills, executes signings and designs frameworks.
- Engineering rigor: documentation, deployable infra and tested recovery paths.
- Bias toward automation and tooling; comfortable with remote/async work and on-call responsibilities.

Nice to have:

- Track record executing liquidity moves and hedges across DeFi venues and centralized counterparties.
- Familiarity with monitoring/response tools (Tenderly, Defender, Hypernative, Forta, Hexagate, Den, PagerDuty).
- Experience designing and operating structured, auditable workflows in fast-moving environments.
