TL;DR

Level Designer (Procedural Generation): Designing procedural dungeon systems and dynamic environments for a new ARPG based on a premiere fantasy IP with an accent on replayability and pacing. Focus on implementing modular layouts, scripting gameplay mechanics for various biomes, and blending hand-made scenes with procedural generation.

Location: Hybrid (3 days/week) or Onsite in Troy, NY (USA) or Toronto, ON (Canada)

Salary: $80,000 – $150,000 USD / $75,000 – $145,000 CAD

A creative game development studio focused on craft and innovation, currently working on a new ARPG based on a premiere fantasy IP.

What you will do

  • Own the design of the procedural dungeon system in collaboration with gameplay and tools engineers.
  • Collaborate with environment artists to create modular room pieces and corridors for dynamic, replayable environments.
  • Define procedural parameters for length, complexity, and spawn-composition to ensure engaging pacing.
  • Implement unique gameplay mechanics tailored to different biomes.
  • Create simple scripts for doors, traps, and spawn entrances.
  • Work with the Game Director and Lead Designers to shape mission content.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of design experience with at least one shipped title as a level designer.
  • Proven experience with procedural level generation.
  • Strong knack for visual storytelling.
  • Familiarity with tool-use and basic scripting in Unity, Unreal, or equivalent engines.
  • Must be based in or be able to work from Troy, NY or Toronto, ON.

Nice to have

  • Experience in isometric ARPG level design.
  • Experience creating dynamic exteriors for survival or exploration-based games.
  • Ability to seamlessly blend hand-made and procedural scenes.
  • Familiarity with 3D art tools such as 3ds Max, Maya, or Blender.
  • Experience in a lead or sub-lead role on mid- to large-size projects.
