Principal AI Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote, Greater London, United Kingdom; London Bridge office attendance is optional.

What you will do

• Own platform-wide data architecture, including capture standards, modelling, storage, governance, and serving layers.
• Design and build data infrastructure for analytics, search, recommendations, and AI agentic features.
• Build and scale reliable, low-latency batch and streaming pipelines for high-volume event interaction data.
• Develop the shared data layer and MCP servers supporting Organiser and Exhibitor Agents.
• Define data contracts, schemas, observability standards, SLOs, and pipeline health monitoring across product squads.
• Mentor engineers and influence technical strategy for data architecture, AI infrastructure, privacy, retention, and compliance.

Requirements

• Experience owning data architecture at scale in a production SaaS environment, preferably at platform level.
• Strong experience with Postgres, MongoDB or DocumentDB, MySQL, Redshift, Kinesis, SQS/SNS, and Lambda.
• Experience with Elasticsearch, Redis or ElastiCache, batch and streaming pipelines, and data-intensive systems.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs, coding assistants, agentic systems, MCP, AI orchestration, prompt injection prevention, jailbreak resistance, output validation, and guardrails.
• Fluency with TypeScript, Node, AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, Terraform, CI/CD, observability, distributed tracing, feature flags, canary deployments, and gradual rollouts.
• Experience driving data quality, governance, GDPR compliance, technical standards, and cross-team influence without direct roadmap authority.

Nice to have

• Experience with event technology, SaaS platforms, B2B applications, or platform infrastructure.
• Experience building real-time systems, WebSockets, live data pipelines, or location/proximity systems using Bluetooth, RFID, or UWB.
• Experience with prompt engineering, fine-tuning, AI model optimisation, SOC 2, or open-source contributions.
