Expert Data Engineer (Science)

What you will do

• Design and implement efficient pipeline architectures for data ingestion, transformation, and storage.
• Develop modular, efficient code for data transformation and integration adhering to modern development practices.
• Perform data ingestion from source systems and manage complex ETL processes.
• Conduct regular pipeline maintenance and upgrades to ensure optimal system performance.
• Implement data quality testing and validation to maintain high standards of data integrity.
• Collaborate with data modelers, scientists, and BI developers to ensure seamless knowledge sharing and solution delivery.

Requirements

• Expert knowledge of dbt, SQL, Python, Spark, Cypher, Git, and Databricks.
• 3+ years of experience creating and maintaining data pipelines within the science, innovation, and labs domain.
• Experience with FAIR data principles, data governance, and scientific data standards.
• Ability to collaborate closely with subject matter experts for seamless data integration.
• Proficiency in coding, testing, and documentation to deliver scalable and reliable data solutions.

Nice to have

• Cloud engineering expertise (AWS, Azure) and experience deploying CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with graph databases such as Neo4j.
• Experience handling scientific datasets for cheminformatics or bioinformatics (e.g., microbiome).
