Lead Engineer (.NET)

TL;DR

Lead Engineer (.NET): Building and optimizing cloud-native microservices and web applications for Credit & Verification Services with an accent on scalability, performance, and secure high-volume transaction systems. Focus on leading technical architecture, implementing DevSecOps practices, and mentoring engineering teams within a Kubernetes and AWS environment.

Location: Hybrid in Nottingham (requires travel to office 2 days a week)

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for the design and delivery of high-quality software solutions.
• Take ownership of the overall technical architecture to ensure scalability, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Champion the adoption of best practices, including clean code, maintainability, and DevSecOps practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional team members, including product owners, designers, and QA, to ensure successful project delivery.
• Mentor senior and junior developers through technical expertise and code reviews.
• Translate business requirements into clean, scalable code ensuring minimal defects.

Requirements

• Proven track record of building secure, mission-critical, high-volume transaction web systems in regulated environments.
• Hands-on experience with .NET 6+, .NET Core, or .NET Framework and C# for building REST/SOAP/RPC APIs with microservice architectures.
• Proficiency in writing unit and integration tests using xUnit or nUnit, with experience in TDD and BDD.
• Strong understanding of SOLID principles, Clean Architecture, OOP, design patterns, and concurrency concepts.
• Proficiency in SQL or NoSQL databases and experience with Entity Framework and data modelling.
• Experience with CI/CD practices and source control (Git, Bitbucket, GitHub, or GitLab).

Nice to have

• Working knowledge of using Gen AI tools for coding.
• Experience with Python, Scala, or big data frameworks like Spark and Batch Processing.
• Public cloud certifications or deep working knowledge, preferably AWS.
• Experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka, Event Bridge, Kinesis, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or CDK.
