TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Cloud): Building and delivering custom software and cloud services for the UK public sector with an accent on microservices, DevOps culture, and outcome-based delivery. Focus on implementing CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform), and mentoring multidisciplinary teams to improve public services.

Location: Swansea, UK. Must be eligible for SC clearance (5 years continuous UK residency).

Salary: £50,000 - £70,000 per year

What you will do

  • Develop custom software for central and local government as well as the NHS.
  • Work across various architectures ranging from monoliths to microservices.
  • Build and maintain CD pipelines to enable rapid, iterative production releases.
  • Define architecture and infrastructure as code using Terraform and OpenAPI.
  • Coach and mentor colleagues and customers in DevOps culture and technical skills.
  • Implement cloud-native solutions using AWS Lambda and containerisation.

Requirements

  • Experience writing tested code in an agile environment.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Ruby, Python, C#).
  • Experience with cloud platforms, databases, and APIs.
  • Eligibility for SC clearance: 5 years continuous UK residency and employment history.
  • Proven track record of self-development and mentoring others.

Nice to have

  • Experience in digital consultancy or working directly with users.
  • Proficiency in the React ecosystem with a TDD approach.
  • Experience with Scrum, XP, or Kanban practices.
  • Skill in pair programming and component-based design.
  • Familiarity with architectural decision records.
