Hardware Engineering Manager (DC-Power Instrumentation)

What you will do

• Lead architecture, development, prototyping, and validation of DC power instruments for test and measurement applications.
• Supervise and mentor a team of hardware design engineers; set goals, manage performance, and guide architectural decisions.
• Actively contribute to DC-DC power supply hardware design and validation, covering performance, efficiency, thermal behavior, and reliability.
• Oversee schematic design, component selection, power stage topology choices, magnetics tradeoffs, and PCB implementation.
• Drive design decisions for regulation accuracy, transient response, protection features, and EMI/EMC performance with system-level integration.
• Manage hardware development projects from concept to production and coordinate cross-functionally (mechanical, firmware, software, systems, operations, manufacturing).

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on hardware engineering experience with strong background in DC power supply or power electronics design.
• 2+ years in a managerial role, ideally player/coach, combining technical contribution with team management.
• Direct experience managing 6+ staff members.
• Strong electrical engineering fundamentals: analog/power circuit design, control loops, and power conversion principles.
• Experience with lab debugging and validation tools (oscilloscopes, multimeters, electronic loads, power analyzers) and hardware debugging tools.
• Knowledge of power hardware design, validation, safety, and quality assurance best practices and industry standards.

Location: North Reading, MA, US

Salary: $201,000 - $321,600 base
