TL;DR

SDR & GPU Acceleration Engineer (SatCom): Leading the design and implementation of software-defined communication systems and accelerated digital signal processing pipelines for next-generation satellite communication with an accent on PHY/MAC layer optimization and GPU-based high-performance computing. Focus on building scalable software architectures, designing low-latency processing solutions, and executing Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing for complex communication systems.

Location: Must be based in or able to relocate to Gilching, Germany (Hybrid model with 4 weeks of remote work outside the usual area per year).

What you will do

  • Lead the design and implementation of software-defined modem and protocol processing solutions for high-rate satellite communication systems.
  • Develop and optimize PHY and MAC layer processing chains for next-generation wireless and SatCom technologies.
  • Design GPU-accelerated digital signal processing pipelines for modulation, demodulation, and signal analytics.
  • Integrate and evaluate SDR platforms, RF front ends, and hardware-accelerated processing platforms within end-to-end validation environments.
  • Plan and execute Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, interoperability campaigns, and performance benchmarking.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers while contributing to architectural decision-making.

Requirements

  • Degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related discipline.
  • Strong experience in Software Defined Radio (SDR) architectures and digital communication systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP) techniques and PHY/MAC layer protocols.
  • Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python for complex software systems.
  • Practical experience with GPU programming and parallel processing frameworks like NVIDIA CUDA.
  • Experience with Linux-based development environments and system integration.
