Creature Supervisor (VFX)

TL;DR

Creature Supervisor (VFX): Leading a team of Creature Technical Directors to develop and maintain high-end creature pipelines for feature films with an accent on hero rigging, simulation, and technical continuity. Focus on mentoring artists, troubleshooting complex asset issues, and collaborating with production leadership to bid and schedule shotwork.

Location: Must be based in or able to work on-site in London, UK (Hybrid: 2 days/week on-site)

What you will do

• Lead and mentor a team of Creature TDs, providing feedback and resolving technical issues.
• Develop and maintain creature pipelines, including rigging, simulation, and scripting utilities.
• Collaborate with CG Supervisors and Production Managers to bid, schedule, and cast shotwork.
• Perform advanced hero-creature rigging and simulation for cloth, hair, muscle, and rigid bodies.
• Establish workflows and best practices for CFX and rigging across global and local departments.
• Participate in hiring processes and provide performance evaluations for the creature team.

Requirements

• Must be eligible to work in the UK.
• Extensive professional experience in a leadership role within VFX or CG animation.
• Expertise in Maya and Houdini for advanced hero assets.
• Strong proficiency in Python scripting and Linux environments.
• Deep knowledge of anatomy, skinning, and corrective sculpting.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.

Nice to have

• Previous experience at hirify.global.
• Basic proficiency in modeling, texture, or animation disciplines.
• Degree in computer graphics, fine arts, design, or photography.
