Location: Must be based in Japan. This is a remote-first role with occasional in-office meetings; requires working from 6:00 AM (JST) Tuesday to Friday to align with the U.S. team.

What you will do
- Architect and optimize scalable software systems on AWS using agentic AI-assisted development practices.
- Develop product features and internal tools to enhance customer experience and engineering productivity.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to design maintainable technical solutions.
- Maintain and evolve core platform components with a focus on reliability and performance.
- Collaborate with the U.S.-based team, requiring specific early-morning hours (JST) Tuesday through Friday.
Requirements
- Must be based in Japan.
- Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English.
- 8+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java.
- Hands-on experience with agentic coding practices, prompt engineering, or AI coding assistants.
- Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, concurrency, and distributed systems.
- Experience with AWS, RESTful APIs, and relational databases like MySQL or Oracle.
Nice to have
- Programming proficiency in Python.
- Familiarity with React.js and Node.js.
- Experience in data science or machine learning.
- Proficiency in Chinese.
