Staff Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Must be based in Japan (Remote - APAC)

What you will do

• Design and maintain mission-critical brokerage systems tailored for the Japanese market.
• Develop gRPC microservices and integrate with local financial infrastructure like JPX, JSCC, and JASDEC.
• Transform core frameworks to support Japan-specific accounting and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with local regulators, vendors, and business stakeholders in Japanese.
• Translate complex local requirements into technical specifications for the global engineering team.
• Participate in on-call rotations and ensure platform stability during Japan business hours.

Requirements

• Native or JLPT N1 level fluency in Japanese is mandatory.
• Business-level English fluency for global collaboration.
• Proven experience designing complex financial systems and double-entry accounting.
• Proficiency in at least one statically typed language (e.g., Go, Rust, Java).
• Strong understanding of ledger structures, transaction reconciliation, and financial compliance.
• Ability to work independently in a fully remote, globally distributed environment.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Go.
• Experience with Japan-specific financial products like NISA, iDeCo, or MyNumber.
• Hands-on experience with Japan market infrastructure integrations.
• Background in fast-growing technology companies or startups.
