What you will do

• Develop and execute annual internal audit plans tailored to Japanese regulatory requirements.
• Conduct end-to-end internal audits to assess operational risks and control effectiveness.
• Partner with the Head of Internal Audit to update risk assessment processes and attend local committees.
• Utilize data analysis to inform risk understanding, test controls, and provide insights to management.
• Perform follow-up reviews on audit deficiencies and conduct ongoing monitoring of control frameworks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with internal policies and international standards.

Requirements

• 3+ years of audit experience in an accounting firm or a regulated financial institution in Japan.
• Native-level Japanese and business-level English proficiency are required.
• Strong knowledge of Japanese financial regulations (Payment Services Act, APCTCP, etc.).
• Familiarity with Global IIA standards for professional internal auditing.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple concurrent deadlines.

Nice to have

• Audit experience at a foreign financial institution operating in Japan.
• Expertise in data analysis tools such as SQL or Python.
• Professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, or ACAMS.
• Knowledge of European regulations like GDPR or Basel III.
