Senior Fullstack Developer (Ecommerce)

Senior Fullstack Developer (Ecommerce): Taking hands-on technical ownership of a complex ecommerce platform with an accent on performance, system reliability, and multi-system integrations. Focus on refactoring technical debt, establishing quality standards, and driving feature delivery for a high-growth automotive brand.

Location: Must be based in Europe, with a strong preference for Poland, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, or the Czech Republic.

Compensation: $35–$48 USD per hour.

What you will do

• Lead the technical direction and quality of the ecommerce platform, including hands-on coding and architectural decision-making.
• Perform substantive engineering reviews of code from internal developers and external agencies to ensure high standards.
• Manage complex integrations between Magento, ERP (NetSuite), payments, OMS, and CMS.
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, production issues, and technical debt within the existing codebase.
• Establish and reinforce development workflows, documentation, and quality gates to improve delivery predictability.
• Transition into people-management responsibilities as the internal engineering team grows.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in complex ecommerce platforms (Magento 2, Shopify Plus, etc.).
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with production experience in Vue 3 and Nuxt.
• Experience with headless or decoupled frontend architectures and integrating ecommerce with ERP systems like NetSuite.
• Hands-on experience with platform-level caching (Varnish, Redis) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Must be legally authorized to work as an independent contractor and able to invoice a U.S. company directly.
• Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with PHP and Magento 2 backend architecture.
• Experience with headless CMS platforms like Sanity.
• Background with Elasticsearch or Algolia.
• Previous technical leadership or mentoring experience.
