TL;DR

Legal Assistant (Litigation): Providing comprehensive support to attorneys in civil litigation and insurance defense with an accent on document preparation, court e-filing, and case management. Focus on maintaining high-level organization, managing complex deadlines, and ensuring procedural compliance in state and federal courts.

Location: Must be based in or able to commute to San Diego, CA (Hybrid role)

Salary: $38–$46/hour

What you will do

  • Format pleadings, correspondence, and legal documents.
  • Manage e-filing processes for State, Federal, and Appellate Courts.
  • Prepare Tables of Contents and Authorities for motions.
  • Coordinate depositions, hearings, and attorney travel arrangements.
  • Maintain case calendars and track critical deadlines.
  • Assist with trial preparation and daily administrative file organization.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as a litigation legal assistant.
  • Strong understanding of California state, federal, and appellate court filing rules.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with Westlaw research.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with high confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience in insurance defense or personal injury law.
