What you will do

• Drive the technical direction of the data platform, leading architectural decisions and delivery in collaboration with Product and Design stakeholders.
• Support and develop a team of 4–5 engineers through technical mentorship and fostering a product-minded engineering culture.
• Own and evolve the data infrastructure, including the data lake, semantic layer, and data governance to support AI and analytics.
• Lead the adoption of streaming technologies (Kafka) across the team.
• Drive the shift toward a distributed data ownership model and self-service data platform.
• Collaborate with the staff engineering community on cross-cutting architectural decisions.

Requirements

• Proven experience at Staff Engineer level or equivalent within a data engineering context.
• Strong architectural understanding of data lakes, data foundations, governance, and orchestration.
• Hands-on experience with streaming technologies, specifically Kafka.
• Proficiency in Python and experience working with a modern data stack.
• Experience handling large-scale datasets for a B2B SaaS customer base.
• Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with data governance for AI agents, including guardrails and safety considerations.
• Prior exposure to self-service data platform models and distributed data ownership strategies.
• Experience working in a product-led SaaS environment.
