What you will do

• Support the Chief Sub Editor in managing the subs desk and allocating work across the magazine and supplements.
• Coordinate editorial workflow to ensure copy moves smoothly and deadlines are consistently met.
• Sub-edit, proofread, and fact-check editorial content with exceptional accuracy and sensitivity to tone.
• Write and refine headlines, standfirsts, sells, and captions in the brand's distinctive voice.
• Review layouts and page proofs to ensure they are accurate, balanced, and production-ready.
• Deputise for the Chief Sub Editor in overseeing production schedules and editorial output.

Requirements

• Significant experience in a sub-editing role within a magazine, newspaper, or digital editorial environment.
• Exceptional command of English grammar, spelling, and style.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign and InCopy.
• Strong fact-checking skills and sound editorial judgement.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced production environment.
