DevOps Engineer - Midnight Foundation
Full-time/Company: IO Global
IO Global is a leading blockchain research and engineering company and the driving force behind Cardano. The organisation is fully decentralised and remote, with a team of 300+ people across 50+ countries, building high-assurance blockchain and smart contract solutions.
This is a full-time remote role for candidates based in Asia, with 1–2 hours of daily overlap required with US or EU time zones. Schedule is flexible (Sunday–Thursday or Tuesday–Saturday).
Responsibilities:
- Ensure availability and 99.99% uptime for critical blockchain infrastructure; respond to incidents and identify issues quickly.
- Develop and maintain open-source tools to manage Cardano and Midnight infrastructure across multi-cloud and bare metal environments (AWS, Google Cloud, bare metal).
- Troubleshoot issues during testing and deployment to catch protocol-level bottlenecks before mainnet upgrades.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions and other tools) to ensure a secure SDLC.
- Participate in the on-call rota and provide rapid mitigation for production interruptions.
- Plan and manage the transition from a foundation-coordinated federated validator model to a fully decentralized validator network.
Requirements:
- 5+ years in DevOps/SRE roles, with direct experience in blockchain infrastructure.
- Strong Linux systems administration skills.
- Experience with container environments and Kubernetes orchestration.
- Proficient with observability tools like Grafana and Prometheus.
- Strong scripting skills (shell) and familiarity with systems languages (Rust, Go, Python).
- Extensive experience configuring, scaling, monitoring, and tuning services in AWS/GCP and using IaC.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and writing clear operational docs and blameless post-mortems.
Nice to have:
- Experience running and maintaining Cardano stake pools or partner chain nodes.
- Experience with GitOps workflows and Nix for reproducible builds.
