Embedded Software Test Engineer

What you will do

• Develop test plans, test cases, and procedures from functional requirements and design specifications.
• Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts using Python and Robot Framework.
• Configure and operate hardware-in-the-loop, software-in-the-loop, and model-in-the-loop simulation environments.
• Debug hardware/software interactions using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, and other laboratory equipment.
• Document and track defects, collaborate with firmware developers, verify fixes, and perform regression testing.
• Ensure testing processes comply with applicable standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 62304, and DO-178C.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in embedded software testing or development.
• Strong Python or comparable scripting skills.
• Experience with embedded RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS or Zephyr, or with bare-metal systems.
• Familiarity with UART, SPI, I2C, and CAN communication protocols.
• Experience with Git, Jira, multimeters, power supplies, and J-Link or similar debuggers.

• Proactive testing mindset focused on edge cases and potential failure points.
• Comfort working with evolving hardware prototypes and early-stage firmware.
• Ability to communicate complex technical bugs through actionable reports.
• German language skills.
