Staff Platform Engineer (DevEx)

Salary: $186,000–$232,500 for California-based applicants; CAD $137,300–$171,600 for Vancouver-based applicants

What you will do

• Build and maintain self-service developer platforms that reduce cognitive load and improve developer productivity.
• Design and automate scalable CI/CD pipelines, release workflows, versioning, rollback strategies, and deployment tooling.
• Drive GitOps-based Kubernetes deployments using centralized manifests, templates, and containerization technologies.
• Govern the source control ecosystem, monitor platform performance, and troubleshoot issues across engineering teams.
• Implement automated production-readiness gates covering quality, observability, compliance, security, and alerting.
• Partner with development teams, resolve build and release bottlenecks, and provide technical mentorship.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of experience in platform engineering, DevEx, build and release engineering, or DevOps.
• Strong experience with GitLab, GitLab CI, Argo CD, and Helm, or equivalent tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Flux, or Kustomize.
• Proven ability to improve developer productivity, build self-service platforms, and develop complex automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on Kubernetes and cloud experience, including platforms such as AWS EKS, GKE, or AKS; Infrastructure as Code experience is highly preferred.
• 4–6 years of software development and automation experience, with strong Bash skills and the ability to architect platform tooling; Go proficiency is highly preferred.
• Experience administering and scaling enterprise source control systems and applying branching strategies such as trunk-based development or GitFlow.

Nice to have

• Strong Go experience or experience with comparable systems languages such as Python, Rust, Java, or C#.
• Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience integrating AI-assisted coding and code review tools such as Claude, Gemini, or GitHub Copilot.
