What you will do

• Lead the development, evaluation, and optimization of ML and statistical models for high-dimensional NGS and genomics datasets.
• Design and implement bioinformatics algorithms to support assay development, quality control, and signal detection.
• Collaborate with wet-lab scientists to design experiments and interpret results for technical improvements.
• Develop reproducible analysis workflows using modern bioinformatics and software engineering practices.
• Manage and analyze large-scale sequencing datasets within cloud computing environments.
• Mentor junior team members and serve as a subject matter expert in NGS bioinformatics and statistical analysis.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, CS, or Math (or Master's + 4 years / Bachelor's + 6 years experience).
• 8+ years of industry or academia experience in bioinformatics.
• 6+ years of experience in medical device, IVD, biotech, or pharmaceutical industry.
• Deep knowledge of molecular biology, biochemistry, and next-generation sequencing (NGS).
• Demonstrated expertise in product/assay research and development.
• Ability to work onsite in La Jolla, CA.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of industry experience in life sciences or pharma.
• Practical experience leveraging AI and MLOps in regulated environments.
• Familiarity with deep learning applied to high-dimensional data.
• Previous experience as a project lead or in direct people management.
• Experience working in GMP and/or ISO manufacturing environments.
