TL;DR

Payroll Technical Support Engineer (HRtech): Supporting US customers in managing mission-critical payroll workflows with an accent on technical troubleshooting and deep payroll product expertise. Focus on resolving issues impacting pay accuracy, performing root cause analysis on APIs and data flows, and ensuring US payroll compliance.

Location: Must be based in the US. Strong preference for NYC (Hybrid), but remote is possible for candidates in EST or CST time zones. Hiring is authorized only in specific states: AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, MA, MD, MN, NC, NH, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA.

Salary: $103,000 – $129,000 Annual

What you will do

  • Investigate and resolve issues impacting payroll runs, taxes, benefits, and reporting.
  • Ensure accurate data flow between Bob and payroll systems/integrations.
  • Advise customers on payroll configurations and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to US payroll compliance and workflows.
  • Translate payroll challenges into product feedback and partner with Product and Engineering on enhancements.
  • Identify misconfigurations and potential risks to recommend system guardrails.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of technical support experience supporting Payroll applications, HRIS systems, or HR SaaS applications.
  • Strong understanding of payroll systems, payroll data flows, and payroll-related business processes.
  • Experience working with APIs, integrations, webhooks, and data synchronization processes.
  • Familiarity with SQL and database concepts for querying and analyzing data during investigations.
  • Experience supporting enterprise customers in a technical support or escalation environment.
  • Proactive, self-starter mindset with the ability to drive tasks forward independently.

Nice to have

  • CPP, FPC, or equivalent payroll certifications.
  • Experience supporting multi-state payroll platforms.
  • Experience supporting Benefits Administration products.
  • Basic scripting or HTML/CSS knowledge.
  • Experience working in a high-growth SaaS environment.
