Staff Software Engineer (Rust)

TL;DR

Staff Software Engineer (Rust): Building high-performance infrastructure services for a Kubernetes-native platform with an accent on networking, security, and low-latency systems. Focus on designing reverse proxies, credential brokers, and distributed log collection systems to ensure secure and scalable data workloads.

Location: Hybrid (Prague, Czech Republic). This role is not eligible for immigration support or relocation.

What you will do

• Develop and own Rust-based infrastructure services, including reverse proxies, credential brokers, and log collectors.
• Implement and verify security-critical authentication protocols and access control enforcement.
• Design new infrastructure components, defining module boundaries, memory budgets, and streaming patterns.
• Build distributed telemetry and log collection systems with structured tracing and metrics.
• Provide systems-level guidance and perform design reviews for performance-sensitive components.
• Drive technical direction through design documents and evaluation of build-vs-buy decisions.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 3+ years building performance-critical or security-critical systems (proxies, storage engines, etc.).
• Proven experience shipping production Rust services using async Rust, tokio, and hyper.
• Strong understanding of networking (TCP/HTTP), memory management, and concurrency.
• Experience deploying and operating services on Kubernetes using the operator pattern and Helm.
• Experience with advanced testing methods, including property-based and fuzz testing.

Nice to have

• Experience with S3-compatible storage protocols or SigV4 request signing.
• Knowledge of OpenTelemetry, gRPC, and log aggregation pipelines.
• Prior work on reverse proxies, load balancers, service meshes, or API gateways.
• Experience with performance profiling and optimization using flamegraphs and benchmarking.
