Quality Assurance Engineer (Playwright)

TL;DR

Quality Assurance Engineer (Playwright/Cucumber): Developing and executing testing strategies for the MineStar mining software suite with an accent on automation frameworks and API validation. Focus on migrating legacy test suites to Playwright, optimizing CI/CD pipelines, and implementing shift-left quality practices.

Location: Onsite in Brisbane, Australia (5 days a week). Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

What you will do

• Own end-to-end quality for user stories by defining test approaches and providing formal sign-off.
• Design, build, and maintain automated tests across backend services, UI, and API layers using REST validation and RBAC.
• Evolve the Cucumber + Playwright automation framework, including refactoring legacy Java suites.
• Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions to ensure reliable continuous testing.
• Partner with engineers to implement shift-left practices, quality gates, and participate in code reviews.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Team Leads to communicate quality risks and status.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in Quality Assurance and Automation Testing.
• Proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript and/or Java for automation development.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright (Page Object Model) and Cucumber/BDD frameworks.
• Strong experience testing REST APIs, including authorization and role-based access control.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting GitHub Actions pipelines.
• Expertise in risk-based, exploratory, and regression testing strategies.
