TL;DR

Progression Design Intern (Gamedev): Analyzing and refining game progression systems for the project Witchspire with an accent on progression loops and player incentives. Focus on designing tech trees, balancing crafting systems, and implementing features directly within Unreal Engine 5.

Location: In-house, Stockholm, Sweden. Must be able to work onsite or relocate independently

What you will do

  • Evaluate existing gameplay systems, progression loops, and player incentives to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Analyze and refine balancing across progression mechanics, resources, upgrades, and crafting.
  • Design new features for tech trees, progression paths, and player rewards.
  • Implement and iterate on progression systems directly within Unreal Engine 5.
  • Conduct playtesting sessions and use data-driven observations to enhance player experience.
  • Create and maintain clear design documentation for system changes.

Requirements

  • Strong interest in game design, progression systems, and player psychology.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on balance, pacing, and player motivation.
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly through written documentation.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and eager to learn in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Must be able to work onsite in Stockholm or relocate independently.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Unreal Engine 5.
  • Previous experience designing systems or game balance for personal or academic projects.
  • Familiarity with spreadsheets and balancing tools.
  • Knowledge of RPG, survival, or crafting game systems.
  • Basic scripting or Blueprint experience.
