TL;DR
Data Engineer (Azure): Building, operating, and supporting data pipelines and analytics-ready datasets with an accent on cloud-based Lakehouse technologies. Focus on ingesting, transforming, and curating high-quality data to power reporting, advanced analytics, and AI-enabled use cases within a regulated enterprise environment.
Location: Hybrid model requiring three days per week of in-person presence in Canada
Salary: 65,000 – 100,000 CAD

What you will do
- Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines using Databricks on Microsoft Azure.
- Implement data transformations using Python and SQL following engineering standards.
- Support ingestion from diverse sources including APIs, event-driven feeds, and enterprise applications.
- Design and maintain curated datasets within Lakehouse layers.
- Perform data quality checks, anomaly detection, and reconciliations.
- Collaborate with analytics, data science, and AI teams to enable downstream reporting and AI-assisted analytics.
Requirements
- Must be based in Canada and able to work in a hybrid model (3 days/week in-office).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on experience with Python for data processing and automation.
- Working knowledge of SQL for querying and transforming large datasets.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services and data engineering fundamentals (ETL/ELT, data modeling).
- Exposure to Databricks or similar cloud data platforms.
Nice to have
- Experience with Delta Lake or Lakehouse architectures.
- Exposure to CI/CD concepts for data pipelines.
- Familiarity with data governance, privacy, or regulated data environments.
- Experience supporting production systems in a 24x7 enterprise environment.
