Protocol Engineer (Web3): Architecting and building a custom blockchain application using Go, Cosmos SDK, and CometBFT with an accent on privacy-preserving primitives and cryptographic implementation. Focus on engineering custom ABCI++ extensions, optimizing homomorphic encrypted state machines, and translating complex mathematical specifications into high-performance distributed systems.

Location: Hybrid required in Iselin, NJ. Remote is not an option.

Salary: $70–$80/hour (W2 only).

What you will do

• Architect and build a custom blockchain application using Go, Cosmos SDK, and CometBFT.
• Implement and optimize privacy-preserving primitives like Pedersen Commitments and Bulletproofs.
• Engineer custom ABCI++ extensions to implement an on-chain MPC mixing network.
• Design a custom KVStore state machine managing homomorphic encrypted balances.
• Optimize cryptographic operations for low latency and high throughput in a distributed environment.
• Build secure off-chain query layers and view key mechanisms for regulatory auditing.

Requirements

• Must be based in or able to commute to Iselin, NJ (Hybrid role).
• W2 employment only (No C2C).
• 5+ years of specialty software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of backend or systems programming with expert-level proficiency in Go.
• 6+ months of experience with Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC).
• 1+ year of experience with BFT consensus algorithms, P2P networking, and state replication.

Nice to have

• Deep experience with Cosmos SDK and CometBFT.
• Knowledge of Zero-Knowledge Proofs (Bulletproofs or Sigma protocols).
• Ability to translate academic whitepapers into functioning code.
• Experience with MPC or Verifiable Secret Sharing (VSS) schemes.
• Background in FinTech, payment systems, or high-frequency trading.
