Staff Software Engineer - UI Platform

Location: Hybrid in Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Salary: $160,000–$220,000 CAD annually, plus equity where applicable, bonus, and benefits.

What you will do

• Define and own the architectural vision and technical roadmap for a major UI platform subsystem.
• Design and maintain shared libraries, reusable components, frameworks, and tools used across the organization.
• Review high-impact technical proposals and cross-team interface specifications.
• Drive alignment across product teams and translate product strategy into actionable technical architecture.
• Mentor Senior Engineers, share knowledge, and establish engineering best practices.
• Implement complex foundational platform components and ensure their technical quality.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Strong expertise in software architecture and implementation using Java, Python, or C++.
• Significant experience with frameworks such as Spring, React, or Node.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles and practices for scalable, maintainable systems.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience defining internationalization and localization strategies for large-scale enterprise applications.
• Specialized knowledge of Unicode, ISO standards, and localization frameworks.
• Experience with globalization testing processes.
• Experience working on a platform team that treats developers as customers.
