What you will do

• Architect and evolve backend APIs, event-driven workflows, and caching strategies for millions of users.
• Lead complex technical initiatives from discovery through design, implementation, and rollout.
• Improve reliability, scalability, and performance via database optimization and observability.
• Debug complex production issues across application code, databases, and queues.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Infrastructure teams to deliver durable backend systems.
• Mentor engineers and influence cross-team technical alignment.

Requirements

• Staff-level experience building high-scale APIs and distributed systems in production.
• Proficiency in backend languages such as Node, TypeScript, Elixir, Ruby/Rails, Java, Go, or Python.
• Strong SQL and relational database expertise including indexing, query optimization, and data modeling.
• Practical understanding of service-oriented architecture, event-driven architecture, and Redis.
• Working knowledge of CI/CD, containers, cloud services, and operational debugging.
• Proven ability to lead through influence and communicate technical tradeoffs to stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with Elasticsearch, BigQuery, or high-volume data processing.
• Previous partnership with SRE, DevOps, or platform teams.
• Responsible use of AI-assisted engineering workflows to improve developer experience.
