Principal NDT Engineer (Space)

Location: Munich, Germany or Bordeaux, France. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship provided.

What you will do

• Act as the primary internal technical focal point for NDT across Production, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain.
• Coordinate internal Level 2 inspectors, managing priorities and technical escalations.
• Manage external NDT suppliers to ensure quality, traceability, and timely delivery.
• Develop and improve NDT procedures, techniques, inspection plans, and reporting methods.
• Support the deployment and maintenance of the EN 4179 / NAS 410 framework.
• Define the roadmap for future internal NDT capabilities, equipment, and advanced inspection methods.

Requirements

• Proven professional experience in the space industry is mandatory.
• Strong experience in NDT applied to spacecraft, launch vehicles, propulsion systems, or critical space hardware.
• Practical knowledge of Radiographic Testing (RT) and/or Ultrasonic Testing (UT).
• Knowledge of Penetrant Testing (PT) and Visual Testing (VT).
• Understanding of EN 4179, NAS 410, ISO 9712, or comparable qualification frameworks.
• Professional fluency in English.

Nice to have

• Level 3 certification in one or more methods (RT priority).
• Experience with Eddy Current Testing, digital radiography, phased-array UT, or automated inspection.
• Experience with composite inspection.
