US Export Control Officer

What you will do

• Act as the U.S. export-control decision owner for controlled events (new recipients/countries, access changes, travel access, external collaboration, scope changes, and incidents).
• Review, validate, or escalate EAR/ITAR jurisdiction and classification outcomes before external release or expanded internal access.
• Own U.S. licensing and authorization activity, including applicability analysis, preparation/filing support, conditions tracking, reporting obligations, and coordination with authorities.
• Run the export-control decision workflow in Zendesk with complete legal rationale and traceable records of assumptions, approvals, and restrictions.
• Enforce handling, marking, and access-control requirements across M365/SharePoint/Teams/DocSend and ensure SpaceVault labeling/clearance where required.
• Maintain evidence chains, perform periodic compliance monitoring, deliver role-based training, and translate regulatory/policy updates into actionable internal procedures.

Requirements

• U.S. person eligibility as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62.
• 5+ years of hands-on export control, trade compliance, or technology-transfer compliance experience in aerospace/defense/space systems or another highly regulated technical environment.
• Strong working knowledge of the EAR and ITAR, including jurisdiction, classification, licensing logic, deemed export/reexport concepts, recordkeeping, and enforcement risk.
• Ability to convert regulatory requirements into practical working rules for engineering, IT, procurement, legal, and operations stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with disciplined decision documentation and the confidence to challenge unclear or non-compliant requests.
• Experience with export-control workflows and audit evidence management; familiarity with M365 and SharePoint-controlled environments is a plus.
