Senior FX TD (VFX)

TL;DR

Senior FX TD (Houdini): Creating high-quality particle, pyro, rigid body, and fluid simulations for top VFX Feature Films with an accent on photoreal effects and physical simulation. Focus on developing complex simulations for smoke, fire, and water and integrating them into the production pipeline.

Location: Hybrid in Sydney, Australia. Must have the right to work in Australia. Relocation to Australia is required if not currently based in Sydney.

What you will do

• Create high-quality particle, pyro, rigid body, fluid, cloth, fur, and hair simulations using Houdini.
• Produce photoreal effects including smoke, fire, clouds, water, steam, and explosions.
• Utilize custom pipeline tools and off-the-shelf software to deliver VFX for high-end feature films.
• Collaborate with Build, Layout, and Animation departments to integrate 3D assets.
• Solve pipeline issues and optimize simulation workflows for production.

Requirements

• Minimum 6 years of high-end feature film VFX experience.
• Extensive knowledge of Houdini and experience with particle and voxel-based rendering.
• Proven track record in producing photoreal physical simulations for live action work.
• Familiarity with node-based compositing applications, preferably Nuke.
• Must have the right to work in Australia.

Nice to have

• Experience in TV or Game visual effects.
• Generalist TD background.
• Proficiency in Maya, Python, Hscript, or Mel.
• Strong understanding of Linux/Unix based operating systems.
