What you will do

• Identify complex fraud patterns and technical root causes through detailed data mining and analysis, including evasion tactics.
• Act as a technical SME by sharing new data mining techniques, maintaining technical reference documentation, and partnering with technology teams.
• Develop and enhance machine learning models, including using unsupervised learning to augment supervised models and detect anomalies.
• Use link analysis/graph analytics to find and mitigate deeply connected fraud networks and detect new accounts added to those networks.
• Provide technical guidance for engineering projects integrating new data points (e.g., API integrations and internal data transformations).
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to implement features and models and enhance investigation systems.

Requirements

• Location: San Jose, California, United States
• 4+ years of fraud analytics experience in financial services or FinTechs.
• Crypto/Blockchain experience.
• Strong ML knowledge (e.g., GBM, XGBoost, LGBM) and advanced programming skills (SQL, R, Python, etc.).
• Master’s degree or PhD in a quantitative discipline (Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering) or a Bachelor’s degree with significant relevant experience.
• Proven ability to own and drive large, complex data analysis projects; strong communication in writing and speaking.
