What you will do

• Design, develop, and review scalable code for the charging platform and infrastructure.
• Lead core charging milestones including the migration from OCPP 1.6 to 2.x, Autocharge, and Plug & Charge.
• Integrate AI-augmented engineering (Claude Code, agents) into the design, build, and test cycles.
• Oversee technical development from ideation to deployment, maintaining operational responsibility for monitoring and incident analysis.
• Mentor other engineers and improve engineering methodologies as a tech lead within the Charging team.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional backend experience with strong hands-on Kotlin and/or Java.
• Experience operating microservices in production using AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and relational databases (e.g., Postgres).
• Proficiency in building microservices with RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures using Kafka.
• English: Proficiency is mandatory.
• Location: Must be based in or be able to work hybrid in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with OCPP (1.6/2.x) or e-mobility standards like OCPI.
• Experience with high-throughput, real-time event-driven systems.
• Background in mobile app backends (e.g., React Native).
• Experience building with LLMs or agents in production.
