TL;DR
Senior Product Manager (Energy): Defining and executing GM Energy’s utility and energy market software portfolio with an accent on grid service capabilities, managed charging, and backend integrations. Focus on scaling DER standards like IEEE 2030.5 and OpenADR and translating external program requirements into scalable software solutions.
Location: Remote (US), but candidates living within a specific radius of GM hubs (Austin, Mountain View, Warren) are expected to report to the office three times a week.
Salary: $106,600–$163,400

What you will do
- Define and articulate the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for software products within utility and energy markets.
- Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify customer needs and emerging technologies.
- Collaborate with engineering and design using Agile and Waterfall methodologies to create detailed specifications.
- Lead the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch and post-launch optimization.
- Apply Design Thinking principles to prototype and test new product features.
- Analyze product performance metrics and iterate based on data-driven insights.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software product management.
- Experience owning software products from strategy and requirements through launch and iteration.
- Proficiency with Agile product development and cross-functional collaboration.
- Must be authorized to work in the US; no immigration sponsorship provided now or in the future.
Nice to have
- Experience in utility, energy, EV charging, DER, or adjacent industrial technology sectors.
- Familiarity with IEEE 2030.5, OpenADR, or similar utility/DER integration standards.
- Knowledge of grid services such as demand response, peak shaving, or ancillary services.
- Experience facilitating structured problem-solving across technical and business teams.
