Location: Hybrid in San Mateo, CA (Onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday)

What you will do

• Own the technical direction and implementation of machine learning solutions for safety-related systems.
• Lead and mentor other engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and inclusivity.
• Craft and build large-scale ML models with billions of parameters for production-readiness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize the machine learning roadmap.
• Break down long-term product requirements into iterative deliverable stages.
• Facilitate challenging technical decisions across multiple teams to find common understanding.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience delivering and improving large-scale machine learning systems.
• Proven expertise in creating and launching machine learning models from scratch.
• Experience with distributed systems, data architecture, and model extraction.
• Strong programming skills and willingness to remain hands-on.
• Prior experience in a technical leadership role, including mentoring engineering teams.
• Must have United States work authorization (certain visa categories or H-1B sponsorship may not be supported).

Nice to have

• Experience in NLP or computer vision.
• Familiarity with maintaining and evolving safety systems at scale.
• Knowledge of cutting-edge ML technologies, including LLMs.
