Rate: £700 – £1000 per day

What you will do

• Design and develop core components of a greenfield distributed storage platform using Rust.
• Build highly scalable, resilient, and performant systems for large-scale data workloads.
• Collaborate with quantitative researchers and infrastructure teams to define storage requirements.
• Contribute to architectural decisions regarding distributed systems and platform scalability.
• Develop and optimize services within Kubernetes-based environments.
• Integrate event-driven and streaming technologies like Kafka into the platform ecosystem.

Requirements

• Must be based in London or able to commute for 4 days onsite per week.
• Commercial experience developing production systems in Rust (1–2+ years).
• Strong background in building distributed systems and scalable backend platforms.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Proficiency with Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies.
• Strong understanding of system design, performance optimization, and reliability engineering.

Nice to have

• Experience with storage systems, data platforms, or infrastructure engineering.
• Background in building low-latency, high-throughput distributed applications.
• Exposure to quantitative or financial services environments.
• Knowledge of large-scale data management architectures.
