What you will do

• Design and implement innovative neural network and learning-based algorithms for learned transform in conventional video coding.
• Apply deep learning and statistical machine learning to enhance video compression.
• Document and present new algorithms through technical white papers and other professional formats.
• Collaborate with the video coding standards innovation team to develop next-generation technologies.

Requirements

• Working towards a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• Experience with video compression standards such as H.265/HEVC and H.266/VVC.
• In-depth expertise in deep learning (DL) and statistical machine learning (ML).
• Extensive programming experience in Python, C, and C++ applied to image/video processing.
• Proficiency with deep learning frameworks, specifically PyTorch.
• Must be available to work full-time in Sunnyvale, CA from September 21, 2026, to March 2027.
