Annual base salary: $81,120–$133,010.

What you will do
- Develop media outreach strategies for clinical service lines, faculty research, and health system initiatives.
- Write and distribute press releases, media pitches, talking points, media statements, award entries, and selected LinkedIn content.
- Build relationships with national, regional, and local news media, clinicians, researchers, administrators, and university partners.
- Respond to media inquiries, coordinate interviews, and advise subject-matter experts on interview protocol and messaging.
- Monitor news and medical research trends, identify storytelling opportunities, and proactively pitch experts.
- Prepare media coverage reports, manage the awards calendar, and support communications for conferences and recognitions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, communications, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in public relations or media, including researching, writing, editing, and distributing communications materials.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience working with clinical subject-matter experts, department chairs, university colleagues, and staff.
- Strong experience writing, editing, and proofreading press releases and media pitches, with the ability to edit for brand voice and clarity.
- Expertise in major social media channels, specifically LinkedIn, plus familiarity with content management and project management platforms.
- Valid California driver’s license and required Los Angeles City Fire Life Safety training; training must be obtained within 30 days of hire if not already held.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in communications, public relations, or management.
- Communications experience in healthcare, higher education, another highly regulated organization, or an agency.
