Senior Software Engineer (PHP, Fintech)

Location: Remote (Must be based in Canada)

Salary: $95,000 - $120,000 CAD

What you will do

• Design and enhance features for the FeeNavigator platform using PHP/Laravel and Vue.
• Optimize MySQL database queries and schema design to ensure high performance.
• Own end-to-end quality by writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Refactor complex areas of a large, established codebase into maintainable and well-structured code.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to refine requirements and technical solution designs.
• Partner with SRE to ensure software is observable, resilient, secure, and production-ready.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing complex applications.
• Fluency in PHP and strong understanding of OOP and design patterns.
• Experience with relational databases (MySQL) and modern frontend technologies (Vue, JavaScript/TypeScript).
• Must be based in Canada.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD workflows, and the full SDLC.

Nice to have

• Experience with Laravel and the Vue ecosystem (Quasar, Pinia, Vite).
• Proficiency with Docker and AWS services (ECS, ECR, S3, SQS).
• Knowledge of caching (Redis, Memcached) and monitoring tools (Sentry, New Relic).
• Exposure to Python and ML libraries (Flask, Pandas, scikit-learn).
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into production workflows.
