Principal Software Engineer (Gamedev)

TL;DR

Principal Software Engineer (C++/Gamedev): Leading the architecture and design of collaboration workflows on Roblox Studio to enable creators and AI agents to collaborate at scale. What you will do

• Plan and deliver complex technical features E2E within the game engine and Roblox Studio.
• Establish foundational architecture and technical direction to expand Studio's capabilities.
• Collaborate cross-functionally across various teams and technology platforms.
• Mentor engineers in the implementation of technological best practices, patterns, and strategies.
• Enhance product quality by driving automation testing.
• Contribute to the development of a professional application for massively multiplayer game development.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience working with large-scale systems in C++ codebases.
• Deep experience with multiplayer game engine internals, specifically focusing on scale, performance, latency, and throughput.
• Experience delivering end-to-end features that span multiple teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• United States work authorization is required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of version control system internals.
• Familiarity with 3D scene and game development tools and workflows.
• Experience with file storage systems or network protocols.
