Research Software Engineer - BioImaging Data Resources (Fullstack): Developing and scaling deposition and presentation systems for high volumes of biological image data with an accent on automation and HPC integration. What you will do

• Design and implement systems for rapid deposition, curation, and archival of biological image data across the full stack.
• Develop and extend tools for interactive online exploration of biological imaging data.
• Liaise between BioImage Archive/EMPIAR and compute/storage infrastructure teams for system deployment.
• Coordinate with other service teams on shared development and process implementation.
• Contribute to helpdesk support, planning, and the improvement of software development processes.

Requirements

• University degree in Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Several years of professional experience in a software development capacity.
• Substantial experience developing full-stack applications.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Javascript and Python.
• Proficiency with relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL) and Linux systems.
• Knowledge of the full SDLC, including CI, testing, and version control.

Nice to have

• Experience designing data systems that operate at scale.
• Experience working with BioImaging data from one or more modalities.
• Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
• Experience with batch scheduling systems like SLURM.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, or Terraform.
