Azure Data Engineer (Fintech)

What you will do

• Design and implement target data models for risk accumulation and catastrophe exposure.
• Architect and develop ETL pipelines to migrate legacy data into a modern Databricks platform.
• Integrate underwriting pipeline data (submissions and quotations) into stakeholder accumulation reports.
• Build and optimize long-running batch jobs for data transformation and snapshot management using Delta Lake.
• Establish automated data quality frameworks, validation checks, and monitoring systems.
• Collaborate with API developers and technology teams to deliver a reliable data platform.

Requirements

• Strong experience with SQL and relational data modelling for analytical and reporting workloads.
• Proficiency in Python, specifically with PySpark, Pandas, and NumPy.
• Hands-on experience with Databricks (Delta Lake, Lakehouse architecture, job orchestration).
• Demonstrated experience building large-scale ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, and DevOps best practices.
• English: C1 level (excellent written and spoken) required.
• Location: Must be based in or able to work hybrid in Bratislava.

Nice to have

• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage, and Azure SQL.
• Knowledge of insurance data structures (catastrophe exposure, reinsurance).
• Experience with Databricks Feature Serving or Model Serving technologies.
• Familiarity with data governance and cataloguing practices.
• Prior experience in insurance or financial services.
