Cybersecurity Intern (Automotive)

TL;DR

Cybersecurity Intern (Automotive): Supporting the protection of enterprise IT systems and operational technology with an accent on security monitoring and incident response. Location: Garden Grove, CA. Requires a commitment of 4 days in-office per week

An American commercial electric vehicle (EV) company developing a first-of-its-kind platform for medium-duty EVs and Hybrids.

What you will do

• Monitor and respond to email security threats, including phishing, malware, and spam.
• Analyze and triage endpoint security detections using EDR and related tools.
• Assist with incident investigation and escalation following established security procedures.
• Document, maintain, and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for critical security processes.
• Support continuous improvement of security monitoring and response workflows.
• Collaborate with IT and Security teams to strengthen the overall security posture.

Requirements

• Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program or higher in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Information Technology.
• Work authorized in the United States OR ability to obtain J-1/F-1 visa.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to clearly document technical processes and findings.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of networking fundamentals and the CIA triad.
• Exposure to vulnerability research, scanning, or remediation processes.
• Basic scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
• Familiarity with SIEM, EDR, and compliance frameworks like ISO 27001, SAE 21434, or TISAX.
• Relevant certifications such as Security+, Network+, or CC.
