What you will do

• Deliver software components and improvements to backend microservices, including new features and refactoring.
• Write high-quality, maintainable, secure, and efficient code following engineering standards.
• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle from design and coding to deployment and maintenance.
• Participate in operational support to identify root causes and understand production system behavior.
• Collaborate with peers through code reviews, daily standups, and team discussions.
• Work with stakeholders to ensure the delivery of high-value business and customer solutions.

Requirements

• Foundational experience with Java or a similar object-oriented language.
• Familiarity with Spring Boot framework.
• Strong understanding of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL, including query optimization and schema design.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and simple code.
• Willingness to learn from feedback and participate in constructive team dialogue.
• Must be able to attend in-person interviews in Cape Town, South Africa.

Nice to have

• Experience with REST API development.
• Exposure to Docker or containerized development environments.
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD workflows like GitHub Actions.
• Experience with AWS services.
