TL;DR

Senior Backend Engineer (Fintech): Leading the design and implementation of core backend services for high performance, complex distributed payment systems with an accent on scalability, developer frameworks, and merchant experience optimization. Location: Must be based in Poland, Portugal, Hungary, Romania, or South Africa

What you will do

  • Lead design and implementation of core backend services for complex distributed systems
  • Own key technology decisions focusing on scalability and output optimization
  • Drive and apply modern development practices such as BDD and TDD
  • Create clear, modern, and well-tested code
  • Collaborate across teams in a product-driven environment
  • Conduct code reviews and improve development processes
  • Produce detailed internal documentation for projects

Requirements

  • Must be based in Poland, Portugal, Hungary, Romania, or South Africa
  • In-depth understanding of the full development lifecycle (design, development, deployment)
  • Experience building developer frameworks and workflows for seamless integration
  • Python experience is advantageous but not mandatory
  • Highly motivated self-starter with strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of payments and optimizing merchant developer experience
