Controls & Process Automation Engineer (Fiber Manufacturing)

What you will do

• Design, develop, modify, and maintain PLC, HMI, SCADA, motion control, and industrial network systems for fiber manufacturing.
• Develop automated control strategies for deposition, consolidation, draw towers, coating, curing, and material handling.
• Optimize draw-tower parameters, including tension, diameter control, coating, curing, and line speed, to improve stability, yield, uptime, and product quality.
• Provide hands-on support for electrical, electronic, instrumentation, and automation troubleshooting using PLC diagnostic tools.
• Lead automation projects from scope and design through procurement, installation, startup, commissioning, validation, and qualification.
• Maintain industrial networks, data acquisition systems, historian platforms, reporting tools, control backups, recipes, standards, and documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing automation, controls engineering, or process engineering.
• Advanced PLC programming skills with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent systems.
• Experience with SCADA, HMI, industrial networking, and process control systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with SPC, process capability, and manufacturing quality systems.
• Experience with CAD and electrical design tools.
• Knowledge of EH&S and industrial safety standards.

Nice to have

• Experience with optical fiber manufacturing, including VAD, OVD, AVD, PCVD, preform, or draw operations.
