Site Reliability Engineer (Cassandra)

What you will do

• Provide expert operational support for Cassandra clusters hosted on AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, data modeling issues, and configuration challenges.
• Execute complex cluster maintenance, including upgrades, migrations, and schema management.
• Develop and improve internal automation tools and processes to enhance system reliability.
• Collaborate with customer technical teams across banking, gaming, and logistics sectors.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for Level 1 or Level 2 support.

Requirements

• Must be resident of Ireland with a right to work.
• Strong experience in Cassandra administration, architecture, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in Linux and command-line operations.
• Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills.
• Fundamental knowledge of OS internals, memory management, and networking.
• Ability to follow established processes and work effectively within a team.

Nice to have

• Experience with public cloud technologies like AWS, Docker, and Ansible.
• Programming skills in Python or Java.
• Experience with source code control using Git.
• Background in IT customer service or support within an ITIL-based setup.
• Ability to investigate issues by reviewing the Apache Cassandra codebase.
